How to apply
Check the homeownership brochure linked on the right-hand side of this page to see if you meet the basic program criteria. If you do, you may call the Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho office at 762-HOME (4663) to begin the homeowner application process. Application materials will be mailed to you and you will be invited to the next orientation meeting.
Orientation meetings are provided by the Family Selection Committee and will provide information, explain the application process and timelines, and help you to finish filling out your application and answer any questions you may have about the program.
After you submit your completed applications and a credit report is processed, a volunteer from the Family Selection Committee will review your application and contact you to schedule an interview and see if we can form a partnership.
About Money and Home Ownership
Many times we find families that can use help in budgeting and home maintenance to ensure their ownership continues satisfactorily. Training sessions such as plumbing, landscaping, and budgeting are set up to support the families. In turn, Habitat expects applicants to attend those sessions.
Also, a family partner is assigned to assist newly-selected families in getting started. They mentor, advocate for their family, and find help when needed. The family partner becomes the link between the family and the Affiliate.
We want to establish a strong partnership to ensure long term success and to further Habitat for Humanity’s goals of lending a helping hand up.
